US Private Sector Adds 63,000 Jobs in February, Biggest Gain Since Last July
Construction, Education, and Health Services Lead Job Gains
Manufacturing Sees a Decline of 5,000 Jobs
In addition to January, private sector employment in the United States saw a much larger increase than expected by the market last month as well.
According to research by Automatic Data Processing (ADP), an American employment services company, released on March 4, private sector employment in the United States increased by 63,000 in February compared to the previous month. This figure far exceeds the market expectation of 48,000 and marks the largest increase since July 2025.
The rise was particularly notable in the construction, education, and health services sectors. Employment in construction increased by 19,000, while education and health services saw a gain of 58,000 jobs. However, manufacturing lost 5,000 jobs.
The wage growth rate recorded 4.5% year-on-year, showing a slight slowdown.

Nela Richardson, Chief Economist at ADP, stated, “Hiring has increased and wage growth remains solid, especially among existing employees.” However, she added, “Because employment growth is concentrated in certain industries, we are not seeing broad-based wage gains through job switching.”
