The National Tax Service has issued an official apology regarding the recent leak of seized virtual asset information.
On March 1, the National Tax Service stated in a message to the media, "During a briefing on the results of an on-site search of a delinquent taxpayer on February 26, an incident occurred in which sensitive virtual asset information was leaked," adding, "We deeply apologize to the public."
Regarding the incident, the National Tax Service admitted, "In an effort to provide more vivid information, we did not realize that sensitive information was included and carelessly provided the original photo," and bowed its head, saying, "This is entirely the fault of the National Tax Service, with no excuse."

Upon confirming the leak, the National Tax Service immediately activated its internal tracking program to determine the route of the leak, and has requested an investigation by the Korean National Police Agency, putting all efforts into recovering the leaked virtual assets. Additionally, the agency plans to conduct an external review of its overall security system and to overhaul the entire manual for the process from the seizure to the sale of virtual assets.
