Samsung Electronics, KT, and Keysight Achieve Top Speeds with 6G Ultra-High-Density Multi-Antenna Technology
Twice the Speed of 5G in the 7 GHz Band

Samsung Electronics announced on the 20th that, together with KT and Keysight Technologies (hereinafter Keysight), it has successfully validated ultra-high-density multi-antenna technology in the 7 GHz band, a core frequency band for 6G communication standards.

View original imageUltra-high-density multi-antenna technology integrates multiple antennas into a single system to improve signal efficiency and maximize data throughput. Samsung Electronics developed a base station prototype applying this technology, and validated its performance by using Keysight's test 6G device in a communication environment built by KT to closely resemble real-world conditions.
As a result, the research team achieved a maximum transmission speed of 3 Gbps, which is among the highest in the industry, when sending data from the base station to the user device, thereby securing a core technology for 6G communications.
The 7 GHz band used in the validation is considered a core 6G frequency because it offers a wider bandwidth compared with the existing 3.5 GHz band used for 5G. However, as frequencies become higher, the signal coverage range decreases, which created the need for ultra-high-density multi-antenna technology as a key solution to overcome this limitation.
Samsung Electronics stated that through this technology validation, it has confirmed that stable communication coverage and ultra-high-speed data transmission are possible even in the 7 GHz band. The company expects this to contribute to the realization of data-intensive services such as artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR).
Going forward, the company plans to expand collaboration with global telecommunications operators and equipment vendors, continuing to develop core 6G technologies and build out the 6G ecosystem.
