This is part of an effort to ensure that visitors of various nationalities can understand and enjoy the island without language barriers, rather than limiting the service to a specific country or cultural sphere.
Nami Island has continuously expanded its detailed consideration policies for foreign visitors. The on-island Asian restaurant Dongmoon is operated as a facility with official halal certification, and a prayer space (musolla) for Muslim visitors has also been prepared.
In addition, welcome messages in various languages from around the world have been installed so that visitors can take photos and feel the atmosphere of hospitality. All boats traveling to and from the island fly flags of various countries, visually embodying both the symbolism and the message of respect befitting a global tourist destination.
Such consideration has gone beyond tourism convenience to foster cultural trust, which in turn has developed into cooperative relationships with various embassies.
A representative example is the ongoing partnership with the Embassy of India in Korea. Since 2015, the Embassy of India in Korea has been holding the Love-Nami Narae India Cultural Festival on Nami Island, introducing Indian culture each year through traditional Indian performances and a variety of cultural programs.
In addition, the embassies of several countries, including Peru, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Finland, and Malaysia, have been holding events on Nami Island to promote their national culture, food, and tourism, thereby continuing mutual exchanges.
Located about an hour and a half by car from Seoul, Nami Island offers not only excellent accessibility but also the special experience of boarding a boat to enter the island. Behind this appeal lies a consistent operational philosophy that respects cultural diversity, which has helped Nami Island grow into a space for international cultural exchange.
Meanwhile, aiming to be the "Island of Life with Sustainable Tourism," Nami Island has been building a tourism model that encompasses nature conservation, expanded accessibility, and social inclusion. The expansion of multilingual leaflets is also part of its ESG management practices that consider a wide range of visitors, including those with limited access to tourism. Based on an operational strategy that comprehensively takes into account Environment, Social, and Governance, Nami Island is creating a healthy tourism ecosystem as one of Korea's leading tourist destinations.
