Chungnam Election Commission Reports Prospective County Mayor and Incumbent City Council Member to Prosecutors over Illegal Donations
Suspected of Providing Beverages Worth 230,000 Won and Money and Goods Worth 850,000 Won..."Zero Tolerance for Serious Election Crimes"
The Chungnam National Election Commission has filed a complaint with the competent public prosecutor's office against three people, including a candidate-to-be for the county governor election related to the 9th nationwide local elections and an incumbent local council member, on suspicion of making illegal donations.
According to the Election Commission on the 23rd, candidate-to-be A for the county governor election is suspected of having provided beverages worth 230,000 won on two occasions for an event attended by voters in the constituency in November 2025 through an acquaintance, B.
In addition, incumbent city council member C is suspected of having provided money and valuables worth a total of 850,000 won on three occasions to three village associations within his constituency from the end of 2022 to early 2025.
The Public Official Election Act strictly prohibits candidates and prospective candidates from providing financial or material benefits, such as money or goods, to voters in the constituency or related organizations.
