KOSPI Rises Over 1%, Reaches 5,360 Level
Hyundai Motor and Kia Rally Together... Samsung Electronics Also Turns Higher
The KOSPI, which had opened slightly lower, climbed more than 1% during the session and broke above the 5,360 level.
As of 1:32 p.m. on the 11th, the KOSPI index was at 5,365.17, up 1.20% from the previous day. After opening at 5,293.75, down 0.15% from the previous day, it rebounded and once again moved above the 5,360 level.
Foreign investors, who had shown selling pressure early in the session, turned to net buyers, and institutions also continued steady net buying. They were net buyers of 47.2 billion won and 869.0 billion won, respectively. In contrast, individuals were net sellers of 1.0563 trillion won.
Almost all sectors were on the rise. Many sectors gained more than 1%, including telecommunications (3.60%), financials (2.27%), construction (2.23%), insurance (2.17%), pharmaceuticals (1.92%), transportation equipment and components (1.73%), machinery and equipment (1.49%), and chemicals (1.41%). Paper and wood (-2.79%), textiles and apparel (-1.91%), and medical and precision instruments (-1.28%) declined.
Most of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization were also rising. KB Financial Group (5.5%), Hyundai Motor (5.1%), Kia (3.8%), and Doosan Enerbility (1.9%) showed notable gains. Samsung Electronics, which had been declining early in the session, also turned around to a 0.9% gain. Meanwhile, SK Square (-1.4%), Hanwha Aerospace (-1.4%), and SK hynix (-0.8%) fell.
The KOSDAQ index, by contrast, stood at 1,119.69 at the same time, up 0.40% from the previous day. This was actually lower than its opening price of 1,120.62.
Following foreign investors, individuals also turned to selling. They recorded net sales of 700 million won and 111.8 billion won, respectively. Only institutions showed net buying of 132.7 billion won.
By sector, entertainment and culture (2.04%), metals (1.94%), and general services (1.75%) rose. Telecommunications (-1.38%), financials (-1.17%), non-metallics (-1.03%), and chemicals (-1.03%) declined.

Among the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, Alteogen (1.8%), ABL Bio (1.8%), Rainbow Robotics (1.2%), Samchundang Pharm (1.1%), HLB (1.1%), and LegoChem Biosciences (1.0%) were strong. Ecopro (-1.1%) and Leeno Industrial (-0.4%) fell.
