The objection filed by Kim Han-jong, County Governor of Jangseong in South Jeolla Province, who had been included as a "detailed review" case in the preliminary candidate qualification screening for the June 3 local elections conducted by the South Jeolla Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been accepted, and he will undergo a re-examination. In contrast, Kim Cheol-woo, County Governor of Boseong, and Jang Se-il, County Governor of Yeonggwang, received a decision of "dismissal."
According to the South Jeolla Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party on the 10th, the recent preliminary candidate qualification screening results for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections (to be held on June 3) classified three incumbent heads of local governments in the South Jeolla region - Kim Cheol-woo, County Governor of Boseong, Kim Han-jong, County Governor of Jangseong, and Jang Se-il, County Governor of Yeonggwang - as subjects for detailed review.
It is known that their past records, including obstruction of the performance of official duties, violations of the Mountainous Districts Management Act, and violent offenses, became stumbling blocks.
In accordance with procedure, these local government heads filed objections with the Democratic Party’s central headquarters and set out to present their explanations.
As a result, the Democratic Party’s central headquarters accepted the objection of Kim Han-jong, County Governor of Jangseong. However, it issued a dismissal decision regarding Kim Cheol-woo, County Governor of Boseong, and Jang Se-il, County Governor of Yeonggwang.
Due to the dismissal decision, these county governors will have their preliminary candidate qualifications reviewed again by the Nomination Management Committee of the South Jeolla Provincial Chapter on the 13th.

An official of the South Jeolla Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party explained, "We have not yet received the specific screening results for these local government heads," adding, "Nothing has been finalized yet regarding the screening procedures that will be carried out later by the provincial chapter."
