LG Uplus said on the 10th that it will begin full-scale implementation of its "Autonomous Operation Network" strategy, applying AI agents and digital twin-based technologies to commercial networks to automate overall network operations. The company plans to overcome the limitations of a labor-dependent network operation model and provide customers with a more convenient communication experience.
LG Uplus introduced AION (Artificial Intelligence Orchestration Nexus), the core platform of its autonomous operation network. Through AION, LG Uplus is sequentially introducing repetitive work automation and an AI-based preemptive response system. LG Uplus explained that after the introduction of AION, the number of customer quality complaint cases decreased by 70%, while quality complaints from home customers fell by 56%.
LG Uplus also presented examples of AI-based network operation. The company has introduced AI agents specialized in network operation into fault-handling work. Through 24-hour real-time monitoring, the agents determine the impact scope and response measures, and handle everything from remote processing to dispatch requests for on-site visits. When traffic fluctuates sharply, the AI agents respond to prevent base stations from becoming overloaded.
In the central office management domain, where various telecommunications facilities are installed, the company is expanding autonomous operation by combining digital twin technology with AI. A digital twin is a technology that replicates the physical real world in a virtual space and analyzes data there. The AI autonomous driving robot Yubot (U-BOT), which uses EXAONE, the AI developed by LG AI Research, moves inside central offices, collecting information such as equipment status, temperature, and surrounding environmental conditions, and feeds this data into the digital twin.
