Whanki Museum Director Park Mijung Appointed Chairperson of ICOM Korea Committee
The International Council of Museums (ICOM) Korea Committee announced on the 9th that it has appointed Park Mijung, Director of the Whanki Museum, as its 16th chairperson. Her term runs until 2028.
New Chairperson Park graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the College of Art at Ewha Womans University and obtained a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Universite Paris 8. She is currently serving as Director of the Whanki Museum and Board Member of the Whanki Foundation, and has previously served as President of the Seoul Museum Council, Board Member of the Korean Museum Association, and Vice President of the Korean Association of Museums of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Chairperson Park expressed her intention to re-examine the social role and public nature of museums and art museums within the international cultural environment, and to strengthen cooperation and communication both domestically and internationally.
