National Heritage Administration Invites Ideas for Livelihood Innovation...Exploring AI-Driven Administration
Linking National Heritage with Daily Life, Welfare, and the Economy
Commissioner Heo Min: "It Will Lay the Groundwork for Government Innovation"
The paradigm of national heritage policy is evolving from preservation to utilization, and further toward improving people’s livelihoods. Heritage, which used to be subject to strict control, is now being transformed into a resource that creates new value by combining it with real-life areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), the economy, and welfare.
On February 9, the National Heritage Administration announced that, in line with this policy shift, it will host the “National Heritage People’s Livelihood Innovation Talk-Talk Idea Contest” through February 28. The aim is to utilize national heritage not as something old that must simply be protected, but as a practical tool to enhance the quality of life for citizens.
The contest is divided into three categories: (1) “Communication and Cooperation with the Public,” which aims to generate tangible benefits for people’s livelihoods; (2) “Public Services,” which seeks to remove inconveniences in viewing and using heritage and to lower entry barriers; and (3) “Innovation in Ways of Working,” which focuses on improving work efficiency. In particular, the “Innovation in Ways of Working” category looks for ways to integrate AI and digital technologies into administration to eliminate unnecessary procedures and provide smart, demand-centered services. As this aligns with the government’s recent policy direction, fresh ideas for using cutting-edge technologies are anticipated.
After screening, the National Heritage Administration will select ten excellent proposals, including a grand prize winner, and offer prize money and opportunities to participate in the “Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour.” Any citizen of the Republic of Korea may participate individually or as a team. Applicants can download the application form from the National Heritage Administration website and submit it by email.
