At 9:06 a.m. on the same day, the Korea Exchange triggered a sell-sidecar on the KOSPI market. A sell-sidecar is a mechanism under which, if the KOSPI 200 futures remain in a declining state for one minute, the effectiveness of program-trading sell orders is suspended for five minutes.
