Korea Insurance Development Institute Training Center Introduces Stablecoin Tuition Payments...First Among Korean Educational Institutions
Crypto Literacy course registration opens on the 9th, USDT and USDC payment available
10% tuition discount when paying with stablecoins
Upbit corporate wallet-based deposit and refund system in operation
The Korea Insurance Development Institute Training Center announced on February 5 that it will launch a pilot program allowing tuition payments with stablecoins, the first such initiative among domestic educational institutions.
Stablecoin payment for tuition at the Training Center will be available starting with the 2026 second-term Crypto Literacy course, for which registration opens on February 9. In addition to bank transfer and credit card payment, students will be able to choose stablecoin payment to pay their tuition. When paying with stablecoins, approximately 10% will be discounted from the tuition fee.
U.S. dollar stablecoins (USDT and USDC) will be used as the payment asset. Once a Korean won stablecoin is legislated, tuition payments are planned to be switched to the Korean won stablecoin.
The payment will use a deposit method via the Upbit exchange. Students who wish to use digital assets for payment must sign up as members of Upbit and then transfer assets from their Upbit wallet to the Training Center's wallet. Before making payment, students must agree to the relevant guidance, including the deposit procedure, refund policy, and important notices.
To conduct this digital asset payment pilot program, the Training Center has been in business discussions with Upbit since the second half of last year. It prepared for the establishment of the payment system by testing tuition deposits and refunds. Last month, it opened a corporate wallet at Upbit.
This first pilot program will be limited to the first 20 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. The Training Center plans to address any issues revealed during the pilot operation and to expand cooperation to other domestic exchanges in addition to Upbit.
