Kim Sejik, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University, Appointed as New KDI President
The National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC) under the Prime Minister announced on February 4 that it has appointed Kim Sejik (66), Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, as the 18th President of the Korea Development Institute (KDI).
The NRC made this decision at its 375th board meeting held the same day.
The new president, Kim, who graduated from Soongmoon High School and the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, has served as an invited research fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, a senior economist in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a member of the Financial Development Review Committee of the Financial Services Commission, and an outside director at Hanwha Life Insurance.

The new president’s term will run for three years from February 9, 2026 to February 8, 2029.
