Yangpyeong County to Fully Launch '2026 Education Sector Subsidy Support Project'
Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (County Governor Jeon Jinseon) announced on February 3 that it has allocated a total budget of 6.3 billion won for the education sector to expand educational welfare. The county will actively implement various support programs, including subsidies, for 69 kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools within its jurisdiction.
Subsidies in the education sector are financial support provided by local governments to schools and kindergartens. These funds are used for supporting school education and welfare programs, improving the educational environment, and running education projects unique to the region.
First, the county will provide 3.61 billion won for 15 projects under educational expense support. Specifically, 1.807 billion won will be allocated to universal educational welfare projects such as school uniform support for new middle and high school students, school meal expenses, and free high school education; 624 million won will go to school program support projects, including after-school operation costs in rural areas, school program cooperation projects, and elementary school survival swimming; and 1.179 billion won will be provided for school environment improvement, local government-education office joint school bus support, and dormitory operation costs for students eligible for equal opportunity programs.
Next, for the 'Yangpyeong Education Fill 100-Gyeonggi Shared School' sector, the county will support 1.035 billion won across 19 projects. Specifically, 2.276 billion won will be allocated to 'Fill 100 Educational Opportunities,' 174 million won to 'Growth Support for 100 Human Potentials,' and 102 million won to 'Eco-friendly Education Ecosystem 100,' thereby promoting educational projects that are unique and differentiated from other regions.
The county plans to provide educational expense subsidies by the end of March. In particular, starting in April, it will fully launch the 'Glocal Teen Teen Go' project, a signature Yangpyeong education program, targeting about 1,800 fifth-grade elementary and first-year middle school students. This project, in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Future Education Institute, aims to strengthen students' foreign language skills by offering high-quality foreign language education opportunities.
