Hyundai Mobis Assembles Global Dream Team to Lead Next-Generation Display Market
For Mass Production of the "Holographic Windshield Display"
Hyundai Mobis, ZEISS, tesa, and Sekurit Join Forces
Transforming the Front Windshield into a Giant Display
Hyundai Mobis has joined forces with leading global companies to secure a dominant position in the next-generation automotive display market.
On February 3, Hyundai Mobis announced the launch of the "Quad Alliance" for mass production of the Holographic Windshield Display (HWD), partnering with specialized European companies that each possess leading technologies in their respective fields.

Previously, in 2024, Hyundai Mobis attracted significant industry attention by leading the world-renowned optics company ZEISS into the mobility market for the first time through an exclusive collaboration. Building on the technological expertise developed with ZEISS, Hyundai Mobis plans to expand the cooperative ecosystem to four companies and aims to commercialize the HWD by 2029.
The HWD is an innovative technology that transforms the vehicle's front windshield into an ultra-large display without the need for a separate physical screen, allowing drivers to check driving information without diverting their gaze. By utilizing a special HOE (Holographic Optical Element) film made from optical components, the system accurately delivers various driving data and infotainment images to the eyes of both the driver and passengers.
It boasts a high light transmittance of over 92% (equivalent to clear glass) and an impressive brightness of over 10,000 nits (twice that of outdoor LED billboards), ensuring vivid image quality even in bright daylight conditions. Additionally, by leveraging the optical properties of the HOE, the system is designed so that the driver cannot see the passenger's screen, allowing passengers to safely enjoy a variety of infotainment options, such as watching videos and playing games, even while the vehicle is in motion. This technology maximizes both driving safety and space utilization, and is expected to emerge as a core technology for future mobility.
Through this four-party alliance, Hyundai Mobis will oversee the overall system and projector design and production for the HWD, leveraging its expertise in automotive interface solutions. ZEISS will be responsible for designing the HOE film to maximize screen clarity and visibility, tesa will handle the mass replication of this high-performance film, and Sekurit will manage the precise process of bonding the film to the windshield glass.
This technical collaboration establishes a "one-stop supply chain solution" that encompasses everything from HWD technology design to component production and assembly. Hyundai Mobis's strategy is to secure both mass production quality and reliability by proactively building a supply chain ecosystem in addition to its leading technological capabilities.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis has attracted significant attention from major clients by showcasing concept models equipped with this technology at global exhibitions such as CES, IAA in Germany, and the Shanghai Motor Show. Notably, at CES 2026 held in the United States last month, the company received an Innovation Award, further demonstrating its technological competitiveness.
