'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie' (Dujjonku), developed in South Korea and gaining popularity there, has now landed in Dubai, further spreading as a global dessert trend.
On January 29, Yonhap News TV, citing local media outlets such as Timeout Dubai, reported that a caf? in Dubai recently introduced the 'Dubai Chocolate Jjondeuk Cookie'.
This product features pistachio spread, white chocolate, kunafa baked with butter, marshmallows, cocoa powder, and more. It is priced at 29 dirhams per piece, which is about 11,000 Korean won. After related videos were released on social media platforms such as TikTok, responses such as "The Dujjonku that was popular in Korea has finally arrived in Dubai" quickly followed. Some comments noted, "In Korea, it's called 'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie', but in Dubai, it's known as 'Korean Jjondeuk Cookie'.
This craze is also spreading to Japan. Since January 16, promotional posts about caf?s selling Dujjonku have been steadily appearing on Japanese social media. In addition, since early January, mentions of the keyword 'Dubai Jjondoku Cookie (ドバイ ジョンドゥククッキ)' have increased on Japanese social media, and the number of stores actually selling the product has reportedly grown. Caf?s around Shinjuku in Tokyo are introducing the product using hashtags such as 'Korean trend' and 'Korean dessert', with some posts showing that they are selling it with Korean-language descriptions.
