"Zootopia 2" Sets New Record in Hollywood Animation... Becomes All-Time Box Office No. 1
Worldwide Revenue Surpasses $1.7 Billion
Surpasses "Inside Out 2"
Earns Over $600 Million in China
Disney's "Zootopia 2" has rewritten the history of Hollywood animation box office success. Not only did it surpass its predecessor, but it also dethroned the previous leader, "Inside Out 2," to claim the top spot.
According to Box Office Mojo, a U.S. box office tracking site, as of January 19 (local time), the film has earned $393.24 million in North America and $1.3133 billion overseas, bringing its worldwide cumulative revenue to $1.70654 billion (approximately 2.5142 trillion won).
This figure surpasses the previous Hollywood animation record held by Pixar's "Inside Out 2" ($1.69886 billion). With this, Disney now occupies the top three all-time box office spots for animated films with "Zootopia 2" (first), "Inside Out 2" (second), and "Frozen 2" (third). "Zootopia 2" also ranked ninth in the all-time worldwide box office chart, including live-action films.
The decisive driving force behind this achievement was the overseas market. In particular, ticket sales in China alone exceeded $619 million, marking the highest performance ever for a Hollywood film released in China.
Alan Bergman, Chairman of Disney Entertainment, stated in a press release, "This is an amazing achievement," and added, "Above all, it is the result of the passion shown by fans around the world."
