LG Innotek President Moon Hyuksu: "Mass Production of Robot Components This Year, Commercialization of Glass Substrates by 2028"
Mass Production of Humanoid Vision and Actuator Components Begins This Year
Commercialization of Glass Core Package Solution Set for 2028
Expansion of Autonomous Driving Cameras and Wireless Integrated Solutions
Starting this year, LG Innotek will accelerate its efforts to secure a leading position in future markets by beginning mass production of humanoid robot components, commercializing next-generation glass substrates by 2028, and achieving early realization of integrated autonomous driving solutions. The company aims to increase the share of new businesses to 25% by 2030 through a major transformation from a simple component manufacturer to a 'solution company' that combines hardware and software.
On January 7 (local time), Moon Hyuksu, President of LG Innotek, gave an interview at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA, stating, "Robot technology is already here with us, and especially, industrial humanoid robots will be deployed in the field much faster than those for home use." He added, "We are already generating sales in the tens of billions of won from related components, and we began full-scale mass production starting this year."

LG Innotek is currently working with global leaders such as Boston Dynamics in the United States to jointly develop vision sensing systems, which serve as the 'eyes' of robots, thereby securing a leading position in the market. In particular, the company is mass-producing key component groups essential for implementing physical AI, such as actuators and tactile sensors, and plans to supply them as integrated solutions that combine software rather than as individual components, thereby creating a high-profit business structure.
Regarding glass core, which is considered a next-generation semiconductor substrate, LG Innotek also revealed a clear commercialization timeline. President Moon stated, "Product development has already been completed, and we have finished installing equipment and establishing a pilot line at the Magok R&D Center." He further confirmed, "We are accelerating our efforts with global big tech companies, targeting mass production by 2028." The company plans to focus on nurturing the package solution sector, including the glass substrate business, to achieve sales of 3 trillion won by 2030 and to grow it into a revenue source comparable to its optical solution business. President Moon expressed technological confidence, saying, "The first to solve the issue of glass cracking will lead the market."
Regarding the autonomous driving sector, he asserted that commercialization is essentially imminent. "Now it is a game of who can move faster and at lower cost," he said, emphasizing that LG Innotek's proprietary wireless technology would be a key factor. At this year's CES, LG Innotek unveiled a solution integrating 16 types of autonomous driving components. In particular, the company showcased convergence sensing solutions that combine its own software, such as the 'active cleaning camera' and 'heating camera,' which can remove foreign substances from the lens in one second, thereby differentiating its technology. In addition, through wireless control technology, LG Innotek aims to drastically reduce heavy and complex wiring harnesses inside vehicles, and to maximize electric vehicle efficiency by using the freed-up space to add extra batteries—actively targeting global automakers with these solutions.
