Kim Dongyeon: "Emergency Measures to Be Prepared for Seoul City Bus Strike on the 13th"
Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has ordered the preparation of emergency measures in anticipation of the Seoul city bus strike scheduled for January 13.
On this day, after attending the "2nd National Assembly Forum for the Rapid Promotion of Gyeonggi Province Urban Rail Network" held at the National Assembly, Governor Kim instructed the relevant departments to thoroughly prepare emergency transportation measures. He emphasized, "Ensure that Gyeonggi residents experience no inconvenience in their commutes by arranging concentrated dispatches of public transportation, including Gyeonggi buses."
Previously, the Seoul city bus labor union announced an indefinite general strike starting January 13, as differences over the scope of ordinary wages could not be resolved.
The strike will affect all Seoul city buses, excluding village buses, metropolitan buses, and airport buses.
The union is demanding a wage increase of approximately 12.85% and retroactive payment of unpaid wages, following Supreme Court and High Court rulings that regular bonuses must be included in ordinary wages.

On the other hand, management has proposed a wage increase in the 10% range, but the union has rejected this, arguing that it is effectively a wage cut intended to avoid the mandatory increase required by the court rulings.
