Campus Set to Open in 2029
A Platform for Nurturing AI and Semiconductor Talent Expected
KAIST's project to establish the "Global AI Semiconductor Innovation Convergence Campus" within the Brain City General Industrial Complex in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, is gaining momentum.

View original imagePyeongtaek City announced on the 23rd that it held a meeting with KAIST at City Hall to mark the commencement of the detailed design phase for the new Innovation Campus, during which both sides shared updates on the project's progress and discussed future directions for cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-sun, KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung, National Assemblyman Hong Ki-won, as well as representatives from Pyeongtaek Urban Corporation and Brain City PFV Co., Ltd.
The KAIST Pyeongtaek Campus will serve as a testbed campus where AI semiconductors and real-world AI technologies are validated and disseminated in actual industrial settings. Core demonstration infrastructure covering areas such as autonomous driving, urban air mobility (UAM), robotics, unmanned automation, and zero energy will be established in phases at the campus.
The detailed design phase will finalize the specific layout of buildings and detailed facilities within the campus. KAIST plans to complete the university headquarters and core research facilities by 2028 and officially open the campus the following year.
President Lee stated, "The Pyeongtaek Campus will become an innovative platform for nurturing world-class research talent in the field of AI semiconductors and securing global competitiveness. We will work closely with the city to ensure the successful development of the campus."
