Connecting the Inspiration of Performances to Donations... Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Launches "Connecting Emotions" Program
The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on December 11 that it is operating “Connecting Emotions,” a participatory donation program that expands the emotional impact of performances into support for arts and culture.
“Connecting Emotions” is an audience-participation donation initiative that links the inspiration felt during performances to charitable giving. After attending a performance, audience members can use their smartphones to scan a QR code on promotional materials, which connects them to a donation partnership website within the foundation. Through this online donation platform, they can voluntarily participate in giving.
The foundation stated that 100 percent of the donations will be used to produce projects related to arts and culture, aiming to create a virtuous cycle in which more citizens can enjoy cultural experiences.
The “Connecting Emotions” program will be held three times this month for audiences attending a classical music performance at the Seoul Arts and Culture Education Center in Seocho, including on December 16 and December 20.
The foundation explained that it aims to utilize performance venues, as cultural spaces, as new touchpoints for citizen donations. By doing so, it seeks to establish a citizen participation model that encourages everyday support for arts and culture and to contribute to the spread of a donation culture.
In 2022, the foundation also collaborated with private performance groups to run a citizen-participation donation program. At that time, it organized the “Cheer Up, Daehak-ro!” event, where proceeds from the sale of reserved seats were donated to the development of arts and culture, attracting participation from around 5,000 audience members.
Starting next year, the foundation plans to launch a full-scale campaign to spread the culture of participatory donations in arts and culture, linking it to major performance and festival projects such as the Seoul Autumn Festa. It also announced plans to open a dedicated donation webpage, enabling more citizens to support arts and culture regardless of time or place.
