'10th Anniversary' Korean Bar Association Elects Chae Yonghyun as New President
"We Will Build an Organization Where Young Lawyers Take Action"
The Korean Bar Association, marking its 10th anniversary, has elected lawyer Chae Yonghyun as its 6th president and announced plans to create more opportunities for young lawyers to take action.

View original imageAccording to the legal community on December 11, the Korean Bar Association held its regular general meeting and 10th anniversary celebration on December 9 at EL Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by over 100 key figures and members from the legal field, including Kim Jeonguk, President of the Korean Bar Association, Cho Sunyeol, President of the Seoul Bar Association, Kim Sangwook, National Assembly member, and Wang Miyang, President of the Korean Women Lawyers Association.
At the event, lawyer Chae was elected as the 6th president. The new president, Chae Yonghyun, stated, "Going forward, I will transform the association into an organization where law school graduates and young lawyers can gather and take action," adding, "We will expand events for young lawyers to continuously provide high-quality information, and by establishing local branches, we will enhance communication with members in regional areas."
In a congratulatory address, President Kim said, "The Korean Bar Association has long defended the profession and spoken up for young lawyers. As the legal community is working to develop policies for young lawyers, I hope the association will continue to boldly and actively propose policies and engage in activities on behalf of young legal professionals."
Cho, President of the Seoul Bar Association, Assemblyman Kim, Hwang Jeonggeun, Director of the National Assembly Library, Kim Youngjin, President of the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, and Lee Munhan, President of the Korea Legal Aid Foundation, also took the stage to celebrate the association's 10th anniversary and encourage the role of young legal professionals. President Cho of the Seoul Bar Association remarked, "The Korean Bar Association is the core of Korea's legal profession and a union of passionate individuals," adding, "With the new president at the helm, I hope the association will look ahead to the next 100 years and make even greater strides."
During the awards ceremony, plaques of appreciation were presented to Kim Jeonguk, the first and second president, and Kang Jeonggyu, the third president. Kim Younghun, former president of the Korean Bar Association; Cho Dongyong, former chair of the general meeting; Kim Donghyun, vice president; and Kwon Hyukseong, former secretary general, each received plaques of gratitude.

Kim Giwon, the outgoing 5th president, expressed, "I would like to once again thank everyone who supported me over the past four years," adding, "I hope the association will continue to fulfill the proper mission of lawyers with sincerity and become a place where anyone can serve and contribute."
