Yangju Implements Emergency Transportation Measures with Taxis and Buses to Minimize Disruption for Citizens
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province will implement emergency transportation measures and take proactive steps to minimize inconvenience for citizens in response to the planned strikes by the railway unions of Korail on December 11 and Seoul Metro on December 12.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, if the railway unions go on strike, Korail commuter trains will operate at 75.4% of normal capacity, while Seoul Metro commuter trains will maintain 72.7% of regular service.
Although the authorities plan to minimize inconvenience by concentrating train operations during commuting hours, a reduction in Line 1 subway service is expected to inevitably cause inconvenience for citizens commuting to and from Seoul.
In response, the city will encourage taxi operations within Yangju and strengthen alternative transportation by deploying 13 additional standby buses on city bus routes running between Yangju Station, Deokgye Station, and Deokjeong Station.
The standby buses to be deployed this time include: one for Route 31, one for Route 118, three for Route 80, two for Route 81, two for Route 82, two for Route 87, and two for Route 99, totaling 13 buses.
