Wonju City Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Public Parking Lot Construction at Culture Street
200-Space Parking Lot to Be Built
Solving Parking Issues at the Traditional Market
Wonju City, Gangwon Province, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the public parking lot construction project at 3:30 p.m. on December 10 at Culture Street in Jungang-dong.
This project was launched to address the parking shortage in downtown Jungang-dong and to improve convenience for citizens visiting the traditional market. It gained momentum after being selected for the “2024 Traditional Market Parking Environment Improvement Project” organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
A total of 17.9 billion won will be invested in the project, including 10.7 billion won in national funds and 2.1 billion won in provincial funds. The parking lot will offer 200 spaces, with completion targeted for October 2026. It is expected to provide tangible parking convenience for traditional market users in the future.
