Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has completed the establishment of a 'Smart Senior Center' system that connects 66 senior centers within the city under a single system.

View original imageOn the 9th, Yongin City held an opening ceremony at the Unam Firstville 1 Complex Senior Center in Yeokbuk-dong, Cheoin-gu, after establishing a two-way video system through the 'Smart Senior Center' public project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT, connecting 65 senior centers in the city.
From June to this month, the city invested a total of 1,342 million won in the 'Smart Senior Center' project. Through this, 66 senior centers were equipped with a two-way smart video system, a smart healthcare system, and an Internet of Things (IoT)-based safety management system.
With the introduction of these systems, the senior centers can now communicate with each other through the two-way video system and manage their health, including monitoring blood pressure. The IoT-based safety system also enables real-time detection and response to potential risks for the elderly within the centers.
In October, the city conducted a pilot program using the video system, offering classes such as singing, health exercises, and cognitive training four times a week. The pilot program received a positive response, with an average of 60 senior centers and over 200 elderly participants per day.
