Hwacheon County is currently accepting applications for participants in the "2026 Ice Nation Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival Happiness Job Creation Project" until December 12.
The Happiness Jobs program will provide positions for a total of 504 people. Any county resident aged 18 or older who is registered in Hwacheon County and able to work may apply.
The scale of job offerings was determined based on the staffing needs collected from each department and office for the festival period.
Residents participating in the Happiness Jobs program will contribute to the festival's success by working in 47 different areas, including foreign media clipping, drilling ice fishing holes, releasing Sancheoneo trout, serving as fishing site guides, managing rest areas, supervising the indoor ice sculpture plaza, overseeing the barehanded fishing zone, assisting at foreigner fishing sites, providing traffic guidance, and joining the disaster rescue team.
The work period runs from January 10 to February 1, 2026, with exact dates varying depending on the job.
Separate from the Happiness Jobs program, Hwacheon County will also offer winter break jobs for local university students.
The county will accept applications for university student festival assistant positions at the county office on December 24 and 26.
About 220 positions are available. Students may apply if either they or their parents are registered residents of Hwacheon County. For more details, applicants should contact the county's Department of Autonomous Administration.

The university student jobs not only provide valuable social experience for students but also help ease the financial burden on their parents, offering a dual benefit.
Choi Moonsun, Governor of Hwacheon County, stated, "The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is a festival created by the hands of Hwacheon residents," adding, "The active participation and sense of ownership of the residents are truly the keys to the festival's success."
