South Chungcheong Province, Nonsan City, and Korea Land & Trust Sign MOU
Major Tourism Mega Project Including Accommodations and Water Park Set to Begin in Earnest
A large-scale integrated leisure complex covering 155,862 square meters (approximately 47,000 pyeong) will be developed at Tapjeong Lake in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, which is rapidly emerging as a major tourist destination in the central region.
South Chungcheong Province, Nonsan City, and Korea Land & Trust have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the "Tapjeong Lake Integrated Cultural and Leisure Complex Development," accelerating the creation of major tourism infrastructure such as accommodations and a water park.
The province announced on December 2 that the MOU was signed in the situation room of Nonsan City Hall, with Jeon Hyeongsik, Vice Governor for Political Affairs of South Chungcheong Province; Baek Seonghyeon, Mayor of Nonsan; and Kim Joungho, Head of Trust Business Division 2 at Korea Land & Trust, in attendance.
The integrated cultural and leisure complex is a core project for the development of Tapjeong Lake as a tourist destination. It will be developed in stages on a site covering 155,862 square meters (approximately 47,000 pyeong) in Jongyeon-ri, Gayagok-myeon, Nonsan City.
In the first phase, accommodation facilities and ancillary facilities will be constructed, while the second phase will see the development of a water park and recreational facilities.
Korea Land & Trust will participate in the first phase of the project, and all parties will strengthen cooperation throughout the entire project process, including investment procedures based on the regional revitalization investment fund, the establishment of a special purpose company (SPC), and the formulation of a business plan.
The province and Nonsan City will be responsible for administrative and financial support, while Korea Land & Trust will provide project financing and practical design support.
Tapjeong Lake is the seventh largest reservoir in South Korea and the second largest in South Chungcheong Province. Full-scale tourism development has been underway since 2020.
Currently, the area features the longest suspension bridge in Korea, a waterfront ecological park, a strawberry-scented theme park, and a lakeside trail, with additional public development projects also progressing rapidly.
