Man in His 60s Arrested and Referred for Setting Fire to Park Trash and Spraying Insecticide at Police Officer
A man who set fire to trash in a park and sprayed insecticide at a police officer has been arrested and referred for prosecution.
On December 2, Changwon Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam announced that a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, had been arrested and referred to the prosecution on charges of arson of general property and obstruction of official duties.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of using a lighter to set fire to trash under the stairs of the performance hall at Yongji Cultural Park in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, at around 11:40 a.m. on November 26.
When a police officer responded to a report from a passerby and attempted to arrest him, Mr. A allegedly sprayed the officer with aerosol insecticide.
The fire was extinguished immediately, and no casualties were reported as a result of the arson.
Police investigations found that Mr. A acted without any particular reason.

Mr. A, who has a previous record of receiving a suspended sentence for arson, was arrested and the case has been handed over to the prosecution.
