Jangsu County Earns 'Family-Friendly Re-Certification' from Ministry of Gender Equality and Family
Recognized for Fostering a Family-Friendly Workplace Culture
Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province has been selected as a re-certified institution in the 'Family-Friendly Certification' review organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
According to the county on December 2, the Family-Friendly Certification System is a program in which the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family grants certification to local governments, public institutions, and companies that are exemplary in supporting childbirth and child-rearing, implementing flexible work arrangements, and fostering a family-friendly workplace culture, all to promote a harmonious balance between work and family life.
The county first received certification in 2017, followed by an extension in 2020 and re-certification in 2022. By maintaining its qualification again this year, Jangsu County has been recognized for its institutional stability and operational achievements.
This re-certification is the result of the high evaluation given to the stable implementation of various family-friendly policies that Jangsu County has promoted in the field.
The county has spread a culture of leaving work on time by designating every Wednesday as 'Family Love Day' and has continuously promoted the activation of flexible work arrangements and parental leave systems.
In addition, the county received high marks for the expansion of parental leave participation among male public officials and for the operation of nursing rooms for pregnant and postpartum employees, as these various family-friendly support measures have been firmly established and utilized within the organization.
Choi Hunsik, Governor of Jangsu County, stated, "This re-certification is an opportunity to take a step further toward a workplace culture that respects the lives of each employee," adding, "We will continue to expand systems that allow for a balance between work and family by reflecting the diverse needs of our staff, and we will strive for the best results through family-friendly organizational management."
