On December 2, the city announced that, as one of the main initiatives of the Deokjin District Urban Regeneration Project, it plans to establish a hub facility on a 4,500-square-meter site between Deokjin Swimming Pool and the Jeonbuk Women's Family Foundation. This facility will enable the production and demonstration of advanced digital cultural content based on AI technology.

To this end, the city has been conducting design work since July. Once the design is completed in February next year, administrative procedures will follow, with construction scheduled to begin in the second half of next year. The project aims for completion by 2027.

The first and second floors of the hub facility will be dedicated to AI-based digital cultural content production and demonstration spaces. These will include a multi-purpose studio equipped for content creation and demonstration performances using XR technology (encompassing AR, VR, and MR), AI video analysis technology, as well as AI avatar and motion generation technology.

The third to seventh floors will house business spaces with enhanced AI startup incubation functions. These spaces will support resident companies in AI content development and demonstration R&D, data analysis, meetings, and networking, providing a comprehensive environment for startup and business activities.

After the facility is established, the city will entrust the Jeonju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, a city-funded institution, with the "Advanced Digital Cultural Content Development Space Support Project" to ensure smooth operation.

Main programs will include: expanding citizens' understanding of AI and strengthening their practical skills through AI video and idea contests; and providing entrepreneurship education and mentoring for young people. These programs will continue until the hub facility is completed in 2027.

In addition, the city is working to revitalize the commercial district in front of the old main gate of Jeonbuk National University to encourage longer stays by tourists visiting the convention center, hotel, department store, art museum, and exhibition hall to be built in the area of the former Jeonju Sports Complex, in connection with the Deokjin District Urban Regeneration Project.

The city is upgrading infrastructure in front of the old main gate of Jeonbuk National University to inject new energy into the stagnant commercial area and is providing education and mentoring to local prospective entrepreneurs preparing to start businesses.

Practice spaces are also being provided, and trainees with outstanding educational performance are given the opportunity to operate an actual store for six months, thereby supporting both commercial revitalization and youth entrepreneurship.

The city aims to complete the plaza and road improvements in the first half of next year, and the entrepreneurship education and support programs will continue until the urban regeneration project concludes in 2027. The city expects these efforts to help the stagnant Deokjin District commercial area regain its vitality.

Kim Moonki, Director of Urban Infrastructure Development at the city, said, "We hope that a flood of diverse content utilizing AI will be created in this space," adding, "We will do our best to reflect expert opinions and corporate needs in the creation of this space."
