Shim Eun-kyung Nominated for Best Actress at Japanese and Singaporean Film Festivals
Winner of the Golden Leopard at Locarno for "Dreaming in Between"
Actress Shim Eun-kyung has been nominated for Best Actress at major film festivals in Japan and Singapore for her role in the film "Dreaming in Between." The nominations are from the Nikkan Sports Film Awards and the Singapore International Film Festival.
Directed by Sho Miyake, the film follows the journey of a screenwriter who spends unexpected time at an inn in a snowy region. Based on the acclaimed manga "The View of the Seaside" and "Monsieur Honyaradoh" by Tsuge Yoshiharu, the film blurs the boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary, offering a dreamlike experience essential to life. Shim Eun-kyung gives a passionate performance as the screenwriter, Iro.
"Dreaming in Between" won the top honor, the Golden Leopard, at the Locarno International Film Festival. It was also invited to major festivals in San Sebastian, Reykjavik, and Hamburg, and was released in Japan in November. In Korea, it was invited to the competition section of the Busan International Film Festival, where it received high ratings. It is scheduled for release on December 10.

Shim Eun-kyung previously won Best Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Buil Film Awards in 2014 for "Miss Granny." In 2020, she became the first Korean actress to win Best Actress at the Japan Academy Film Prize for her role in the Japanese film "The Journalist."
