Buyeo County Breaks Ground on "Culture, Arts, and Education Complex Town"
Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province has officially launched the large-scale “Culture, Arts, and Education Complex Town” project, which will bring together local cultural, educational, sports, and care infrastructure in one location.
This is the largest integrated public facility in Buyeo County, with a library, sports center, and school all concentrated on a site exceeding 98,000 square meters.
On December 1, Buyeo County announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Buyeo Culture, Arts, and Education Complex Town” project in Gatap-ri, Buyeo-eup.
The Culture, Arts, and Education Complex Town will be built on a site of approximately 98,391 square meters, and will include major public facilities such as a public library, community culture center, shared childcare center, all-together care center, cultural park, Bandabi Sports Center, and Buyeo Girls’ High School.
The county plans to enhance local residents’ access to culture and maximize convenience by integrating education, care, and sports functions.
The public library and community culture center will be constructed with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 8,516 square meters.
These facilities are designed to be freely accessible to children, teenagers, and adults, and will feature age-specific reading spaces such as general reading rooms and children and youth reading rooms, as well as lifestyle cultural spaces like workshops and multipurpose halls. A shared childcare center and all-together care center will also be established.
The cultural park will be created as a nature-friendly space where local residents can enjoy relaxation, walking, play, and hands-on experiences.
In particular, the aim is to provide a safe leisure space where children can learn and play through experiential activities.
The Bandabi Sports Center will be constructed with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, covering 4,871 square meters.
The sports center will be equipped with an eight-lane, 25-meter swimming pool and a physical fitness certification center for people with disabilities, creating an inclusive sports infrastructure accessible to both people with and without disabilities.
Buyeo Girls’ High School will be newly established as an advanced campus, with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, a total floor area of 8,641 square meters, and will include a school building, dormitory, and athletic field.
The county expects this project to significantly improve the local educational environment and contribute to strengthening students’ future capabilities.
The county aims to complete site development by the first half of 2026 and to finish all public facilities by the first half of 2027.
Once completed, the Culture, Arts, and Education Complex Town is expected to become a key base for daily social overhead capital (SOC), integrating culture, education, care, and sports functions.
