On November 27, National Pukyong University (President Bae Sanghoon) held the "Pukyong RISE Partners Day" at the Pukyong Convention Hall, together with local industries and organizations.
This event served as a platform for communication and exchange, designed to strengthen collaboration between government, industry, academia, and research institutes based on the university's RISE initiative, and to expand corporate participation. More than 120 representatives from over 50 local companies and organizations, including regional businesses participating in the RISE project and tenant companies at the Yongdang Campus, attended the event.
On this day, National Pukyong University shared its "Dragon Open-UIC" strategy and cooperation model, which is centered on the Yongdang Campus currently being developed as "Dragon Valley," the Silicon Valley of Busan. The university also gathered on-site feedback from companies to reflect in next year's RISE project planning.
Currently, National Pukyong University is promoting regional industrial innovation and wide-area collaboration through two main pillars in the Busan-style RISE system: the "Blue Open-UIC" focused on fisheries and marine industries, and the "Green Open-UIC" centered on energy technology. To support these efforts, the Yongdang Campus is being developed as an integrated innovation hub for government, industry, academia, and research institutes.
During the event, participants discussed directions for industry-academia-research collaboration based on corporate demand, models linking technology demonstration and R&D, foundations for securing and nurturing professional talent, and opinions for incorporating these into the 2026 RISE project. The need to establish customized support systems for companies was also highlighted.
Following this event, National Pukyong University plans to continue strengthening its role as a strategic partner in the regional industrial and innovation ecosystem by operating corporate councils, building joint research platforms between academia and industry, linking technologies to respond to new industrial transformations, and expanding programs that support regional industrial growth.
