Notably, Korea Fire Meister High School recorded a rate of 3.67 to 1, achieving the highest competition rate since its establishment.
This achievement is attributed to the strengthening of curricula and enhancement of student competencies implemented at the school level. Meister high school students in the province achieved outstanding results, such as winning top prizes in various fields including academic and arts festivals at the 2025 National Meister Festival. Additionally, Korea Fire Meister High School was selected as the top school in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s evaluation of schools excelling in national technical qualification acquisition, further demonstrating their expertise and competitiveness.
Furthermore, Meister high schools have incorporated and are operating curriculum-based national technical qualification acquisition programs, enabling students to systematically prepare for certifications during regular classes and to effectively enhance their major-related competencies.
The provincial office of education and vocational high schools are continuing to provide various forms of support to ensure that students can acquire certifications through their coursework and smoothly transition to stable employment.
By operating one advanced club per school and major, students’ practical skills are being strengthened, and they continue to achieve excellent results in nationwide competitions. As of September 2025, 13 vocational high schools in the province have introduced 26 curriculum-based qualification acquisition programs, reinforcing field-oriented and practical education.
Graduates are advancing to major public and private institutions, including Korea Aerospace Industries, Korea Railroad Corporation, Bank of Korea, Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, Korea Securities Depository, and IBK Investment & Securities. There has also been a steady increase in public sector employment, such as regional talent recruitment for military civilian positions and hiring of provincial and provincial office of education officials.
In particular, the global field training program, now in its second year, has enabled 8 out of 10 participating students to secure employment with local companies in Singapore, significantly contributing to the expansion of students’ international career competencies and employment opportunities.
Kim Seongrae, Director of Secondary Education, stated, “The increase in competition rates for Meister high school freshmen is a meaningful result that demonstrates how the achievements of vocational education are translating into trust among students and parents. Based on the establishment of Gangwon-style Meister high schools such as Korea Aviation High School (Taebaek) and Korea Defense Science High School (Cheorwon), as well as innovative vocational education policies, we will systematically nurture talent to meet the needs of local industries.”
He added, “We will strengthen a customized vocational education support system that organically connects employment, certification, and career guidance, thereby establishing a foundation for qualitative growth and sustainable development across all vocational high schools in the province.”
