SAMG Entertainment's "Metal Cardbot W" to Premiere on EBS Starting December 4
The popular animation series "Metal Cardbot" from global IP content company SAMG Entertainment (CEO Kim Suhun, hereafter referred to as SAMG Entertainment) will launch its new season, "Metal Cardbot W: Roar of Steel," as a regular broadcast on EBS 1TV every Thursday at 7:45 a.m., starting December 4.
"Metal Cardbot" is a 3D robot animation focused on action battles. Since the first season aired in March 2023, it has achieved a top-three ranking among boys aged 4 to 7 nationwide, recording a peak viewership rating of 3.03%. The second season, "Metal Cardbot S," which aired in August 2024, recorded a viewership rating of 6.195%, more than doubling the previous season and setting a new record for the series.
The series is also gaining traction overseas. After the first season entered China in November 2023, it topped the real-time viewership rankings on major OTT platforms such as Youku, Tencent, iQIYI, and Mango TV, as well as China's largest kids' channel, Jinying Cartoon, achieving box office success. Subsequently, Part 1 of Season 2 aired in December last year, followed by Part 2 in August this year, continuing to drive both popularity and sales growth. In Russia, the series began airing earlier this year, and toy sales launched simultaneously. In less than a year since its launch, sales exceeded 2 million dollars, further strengthening its presence in the local market.
"Metal Cardbot" follows the journey of the protagonist Jun as he searches for Metal Cardbots living on Earth in disguise. In this third season, "Metal Cardbot W," the attack of the "Wild Cardbot," which holds secrets from 60 million years ago, begins, showcasing even more spectacular and powerful robot transformations and action sequences.
The Metal Cardbot toy series is also receiving strong positive feedback. The toys for "Metal Cardbot W" have been on sale since October 22 at SAMG Entertainment's own online store, Emotion Castle, as well as major retailers such as Lotte Mart and E-Mart. With enhanced transformation systems from vehicle mode to robot mode and expanded features using metal cards, the toys are being praised among robot enthusiasts for their "spectacular transformations and further-evolved quality."
