HMNEX Reports 670% Surge in Cumulative Q3 Operating Profit to 1.5 Billion Won on Strong Semiconductor Performance
HMNEX announced on November 13 that its cumulative operating profit for the third quarter reached 1.5 billion won, marking an increase of over 670% compared to the same period last year, while sales also surged nearly 80% to 19.9 billion won.
The company attributed this significant improvement in performance to the full-scale reflection of profits and losses from SMI, a semiconductor equipment company newly acquired in May.
SMI, a specialist in LDS equipment for semiconductor deposition processes, recorded cumulative sales of 17.8 billion won and operating profit of 2 billion won for the third quarter. From this quarter, SMI’s results have been consolidated into HMNEX’s financial statements.
SMI, a subsidiary, is expected to make a significant contribution to fourth-quarter sales and profits as deliveries of its main products-LDS equipment, Heat Jackets, Heat Bellows, and other consumables-are ramping up, following the confirmation that SK hynix’s additional M15X (expansion FAB) plant in Cheongju will begin early operations within the year. SK hynix plans to open the Cheongju M15X plant ahead of schedule and start mass production of next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM4) from next year.

In addition, the company achieved quarterly net profit of 7 billion won, driven by increased sales in the automotive LED division, which is expected to exceed this year’s business targets, and other sources of income. An HMNEX representative stated, “We expect to enter a high-growth trajectory based on stable sales in the LED division and a high value-added business portfolio in the newly integrated AI semiconductor equipment division.”
