All Four Participating Students Win Awards
Achievement in Nurturing Field-Oriented Talent
The Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo, Department Chair Park Jaemin) achieved remarkable success at the 16th National Automobile Skills Competition, held from October 18 to 19, with all four participating students winning awards, including the Grand Prize.

View original imageThis competition, hosted by the Korea Automobile Engineers Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, is the most prestigious automobile skills competition in Korea.
Hong Wonuk, a first-year student in the Department of Electric Vehicles, received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award (Grand Prize) in the General Automobile Body Repair category. Park Minsu won both a Special Prize and an Encouragement Award. In addition, second-year students Gong Munjong and Cho Changhyeon each received Encouragement Awards in the General Automobile Maintenance category, meaning every participating student earned a prize.
A competition official commented, "This year, the difficulty level increased significantly as new electric vehicle parts inspection and diagnostic items were added. The focus was on discovering talent with strong on-site responsiveness and technical application skills."
Grand Prize winner Hong Wonuk shared, "I was able to achieve this result thanks to the professors' meticulous guidance and the practice-oriented education."
Professor Lee Jongho of the Department of Electric Vehicles stated, "This year alone, six students secured production positions at Kia Motors and two at service centers. This success is due to strengthening practical skills through competition awards and obtaining certifications. Together with our students, we will continue to establish ourselves as the leading automobile department in the southeastern region."

Established in 1995, the Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has produced about 5,000 automotive technology professionals to date and is actively participating in government and local workforce development projects such as the Work-Learning Dual System, Cheonghaejin University Project, and BB21+. The department also operates a field-oriented educational environment, equipped with practical test centers for the Automotive Maintenance Industrial Engineer and Automotive Refinishing practical exams.
