Seongnam City currently operates a total of 17 open-air libraries called Reading Square Libraries, including three within Yuldong Park.
The event venue will be organized into book reading spaces (Comma, Reading Zone), experience zones, play and relaxation areas, and a performance stage.
The Comma and Reading Zone will feature the following: a Book Square Booknic promoting the Reading Square Library; a Book & Tea Class where visitors can read books while enjoying tea; and a Sound Book Lounge where audiobooks can be listened to using wireless headsets.
The experience zone will include booths operated by 14 public libraries, the Small Libraries Association, and Seongnam reading clubs, offering a variety of post-reading activities for visitors to experience.
The play and relaxation area will include a large canvas (7m x 7m) where any citizen can draw illustrations inspired by books, as well as a 10-meter-long Picture Book Path exhibiting original illustrations from the picture book "I Am Broccoli But I Want to Be Loved."
On the plaza stage, there will be meet-and-greet sessions with poet Park Jun and author Kim Shinhoe, along with magic shows and busking performances for families to enjoy together.
A city official stated, "This event will naturally integrate enjoyable reading experiences into daily life," adding, "We will work with citizens to create a reading culture in Seongnam where books become a part of everyday life throughout the city."
In September, Seongnam City expanded the number of Reading Square Libraries from 12 to 17, having added five new locations since April.
