International Conference to Commemorate Gyeonggi-do Library Opening to Be Held at Suwon Convention Center on the 23rd
Gyeonggi Province will host an international conference on October 23 at the Suwon Convention Center under the theme "Libraries Connecting Climate Environment, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Knowledge, and the Future."
This event, organized to commemorate the opening of the Gyeonggi-do Library on October 25, will bring together domestic and international library experts, academics, activists, and residents of the province to explore the role of libraries and development strategies in response to the climate crisis and the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Following the opening ceremony, the Leaders' Forum will feature discussions on how libraries can lead social change, with participants including actress and climate activist Park Jinhee, Data Marketing Korea CEO Lee Jinhyung, and author Baek Eunbyeol.
In the keynote lectures, ecologist Choi Jaecheon, professor at Ewha Womans University and head of the Biodiversity Foundation, and Te Paea Paringatai, incoming president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), will take the stage to deliver talks on the theme "Libraries Connecting Climate Environment, AI, Knowledge, and the Future."
In the afternoon, two thematic sessions will be held: "Climate and Environmental Library Practices: Space, Operations, and Technology" and "Technological Change in Future Society and the Library’s Response."

A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "As a leading library representing climate and environmental initiatives, Gyeonggi-do Library will become a hub for domestic and international cooperation and future response strategies," adding, "Through this international conference, we will seek a new vision for libraries and a path toward sustainable development together with the residents of the province."
