Eastern Gyeongnam Veterans Office Presents Award to the Late Jeong Soonup
The Eastern Gyeongnam Branch of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs presented a medal to the descendant of an independence patriot on September 30, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
The late Jeong Soonup was posthumously awarded a Presidential Citation for his contribution to the independence movement, having been arrested and imprisoned for participating in the March 1st Movement in Changsu-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, on March 19, 1919. The medal was presented to his eldest descendant, his maternal grandson Yoo Youngsik.

Kim Sangwoo, head of the Eastern Gyeongnam Branch of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, stated, "The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is dedicated to discovering independence patriots and locating their descendants, and we will continue our efforts to honor more patriots and their families in the future."
