Korea Importers Association and Aliexpress Korea Verify Safety of 878 Products
Sales Suspended for Products Failing to Meet Standards
Enhanced Monitoring and Other Measures to Ensure Consumer Safety
The Korea Importers Association announced on September 26 that it had conducted safety inspections on a total of 878 products in order to strengthen safety management of overseas direct purchase goods entering through Aliexpress Korea.
Since signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Aliexpress Korea (CEO Ray Zhang) in September last year to enhance safety management of overseas direct purchase goods, the association has commissioned five major domestic testing and inspection institutions (KTR, KCL, KATRI, FITI, and KOTITI) to inspect 878 items over the past year. For products that failed to meet standards, Aliexpress Korea suspended sales and implemented measures to ensure consumer safety, such as strengthening monitoring within the platform to prevent the same products from being relisted.
By category, food containers showed the highest pass rate, while camping, hiking, sports goods, clothing, and household items also recorded relatively high compliance rates. In contrast, cosmetics, infant and children's products, and water play items are subject to stricter standards, requiring ongoing quality improvement. In particular, infant and children's products have been designated as key management items by the association and Aliexpress Korea, with thorough regular monthly inspections being conducted.
An official from the association stated, "We will continue to strengthen our pre-verification system and expand safety inspections so that consumers can use overseas direct purchase services with peace of mind."
