KOSDAQ Drops Over 2%... KOSPI Retreats to 3,450 Level
KOSDAQ is showing weakness on the 24th, dropping more than 2% during intraday trading. KOSPI also fell by nearly 1%, retreating to the 3,450 level.
As of 11:02 a.m. on this day, the KOSDAQ index was down 2.16% from the previous trading day, recording 853.35. The index started at 870.54, down 0.19% from the previous session, and has since widened its decline.
Foreign investors and institutions are leading the downturn by selling 154.7 billion won and 60.4 billion won, respectively. In contrast, individual investors are net buying 226.5 billion won.
By industry, with the exception of metals (up 1.21%) and publishing & media reproduction (up 0.35%), most sectors are declining. Pharmaceuticals (down 3.67%), general services (down 3.03%), medical & precision instruments (down 2.93%), machinery & equipment (down 2.42%), manufacturing (down 2.20%), textiles & apparel (down 1.97%), and entertainment & culture (down 1.87%) are among the sectors falling the most.
All of the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization are declining. These include Alteogen (down 3.53%), Ecopro BM (down 2.19%), Ecopro (down 2.22%), Peptron (down 9.47%), PharmaResearch (down 0.52%), Ligochem Bio (down 2.25%), Rainbow Robotics (down 4.80%), Samchundang Pharm (down 7.17%), ABL Bio (down 7.32%), and HLB (down 1.54%).
At the same time, KOSPI was down 0.98% from the previous trading day, standing at 3,451.87. The index opened at 3,492.03, up 0.17% from the previous session, but has since reversed and deepened its decline. Individual investors and foreign investors are net selling 65.2 billion won and 46.0 billion won, respectively, while institutions are net buying 87.1 billion won.
Most sectors are weak. Securities (down 3.71%), entertainment & culture (down 2.78%), medical & precision instruments (down 2.10%), distribution (down 1.86%), insurance & chemicals (down 1.72%), pharmaceuticals (down 1.68%), IT services, electrical & electronics (down 1.51%), finance (down 1.46%), and textiles & apparel (down 1.15%) are all falling. In contrast, telecommunications (up 1.11%), transportation equipment & parts (up 1.09%), machinery & equipment (up 0.92%), and construction (up 0.13%) are rising.

Among the top 10 KOSPI stocks by market capitalization, all are declining except for Hanwha Aerospace (up 4.78%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (up 0.71%), and Doosan Enerbility (up 2.77%). Samsung Electronics (down 0.83%), SK Hynix (down 2.63%), LG Energy Solution (down 2.38%), Samsung Biologics (down 0.10%), Hyundai Motor (down 0.68%), and KB Financial Group (down 0.26%) are all falling.
