Dobong District to Replace Outdated Gas Stoves with Induction Cooktops in Daycare Centers for Safety
Dobong District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Eonseok) announced on September 19 that it will replace outdated gas stoves in private and home-based daycare centers within the district with induction cooktops. This measure is intended to proactively prevent fire hazards and harmful gas issues that may occur in daycare centers.
The district previously conducted a demand survey targeting private and home-based daycare centers and confirmed that 18 locations require replacement. A total budget of approximately 10 million won will be allocated for the replacement project, fully funded by the district. However, ancillary costs such as induction installation fees will be covered by the daycare centers themselves.
Dobong District plans to complete the subsidy payments in October and begin on-site inspections sequentially starting in November. The district also plans to provide additional support next year to daycare centers identified as needing replacements through another demand survey.
