Daejeon Office of Education: School Nurse Expertise Safeguards Student Health
From Eye Health and Type 1 Diabetes Management
to Emergency Care and High-Tech Health Education Training
A training session for school nurses was held to systematically manage students' health and safety.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education is conducting a "School Nurse Competency Enhancement Training" for two days on September 11 and 25 at the auditorium of the Cancer Center at Konyang University Hospital. The training targets 120 school nurses from elementary, middle, high, special, and various other schools, aiming to strengthen student health management.
This training was organized to strengthen the professional expertise of school nurses, enabling systematic management of students' health and safety, and to enhance health education and emergency response capabilities tailored to the developmental characteristics of children and adolescents.
The first session, held on September 11, featured lectures on eye health and ophthalmologic emergency care for children and adolescents (by Kim Minwoong, Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Bucheon Sejong Hospital), and understanding school life for children and adolescents with Type 1 diabetes (by Kim Jieun, Professor of Nursing at Konyang University).
The second session will be held on September 25, with lectures on responding to school emergencies (by Lee Jesub, Professor of Emergency Medicine at Inha University Hospital), and high-tech health education under the 2022 revised curriculum (by Oh Heeryeong, school nurse at Jeongnim Middle School).
