"Who Can Fly Farther?"... Murim Paper to Host 6th Paper Airplane Competition
Opening on September 27 at Jinju Sports Complex
Registration Open for Longest Flight Time and Aerobatic Flight Categories
Murim Paper announced on September 11 that it will host the "2025 6th Murim Paper KOREAN CUP Paper Airplane Competition," the largest paper airplane competition in Korea.
This year marks the 6th edition of the event, which will open on September 27 at the main stadium of Jinju Sports Complex in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do. By elevating paper airplanes to the status of a sport, the Murim Paper Paper Airplane Competition has become the largest event of its kind in Korea, attracting thousands of participants every year. The ultimate winner will receive an official champion record certificate from the Korea Paper Airplane Association, as well as prestigious awards such as the "Jinju Mayor's Award," the "Air Force Education and Training Commander's Award," and the "Jinju Office of Education Superintendent's Award."
Interest and popularity in the competition remain high, as the long-distance flying category reached its registration limit just 24 hours after pre-registration began on the official competition website on September 5. Registration is still open for the long-duration flight and aerobatic flight categories, and participants can also sign up on-site on the day of the competition.
This year, to celebrate the passion of paper airplane fans and share their achievements, Murim Paper is collaborating with Jongienara, a leading Korean stationery and publishing company, to release the first-ever official publication for the competition: "Murim Paper Korean Cup Paper Airplane Competition Winning Works Collection." This book, featuring vivid interviews with past winners and paper airplane blueprints, will be released in mid-September through online and offline bookstores such as Kyobo Bookstore and Yes24, and will also be available at the competition venue.
Even those not participating in the competition can enjoy a variety of hands-on experiences and activity programs. First, a paper folding class will be held with "Nemo Ajussi," a paper YouTuber with 600,000 subscribers, where participants can make airplanes using the official competition paper. There will also be unique experiences to highlight the value of paper, such as "Make Your Own Keyring" using environmental-themed paper memes, and the "Paper Doodle Zone," where visitors can freely draw on large sheets of paper.
In addition, a range of exciting attractions exclusive to the Murim Paper Paper Airplane Competition await visitors, including the "Paper Airplane Triathlon" with generous prizes, and the eco-friendly paper playground "Harmless Paper Pool."
