Busan Northern Employment and Labor Office Conducts Special Industrial Safety Inspection of Manufacturing Companies in Gangseo-gu
Intensive Inspections Conducted at 20 High-Accident Companies
Five Companies Booked, Fines Totaling 36 Million Won Imposed
The Ministry of Employment and Labor Busan Northern Branch Office (headed by Min Gwangje) conducted a special inspection on industrial safety at manufacturing companies located in Gangseo-gu, Busan, where a high number of serious industrial accidents have occurred, and announced the results.
Since 2022, approximately 68% of all workplace accident fatalities under the jurisdiction (26 out of 38 cases) have been concentrated in Gangseo-gu. Accordingly, from July 21 to August 8, the branch office carried out a self-inspection campaign for 150 manufacturing companies in Gangseo-gu. Based on the results, from August 21 to September 5, the office conducted intensive inspections at 20 workplaces where the self-inspection results were deemed insufficient or the risk of accidents was considered high.
As a result of these inspections, the heads (safety and health management officers) of five companies, including a concrete manufacturer in the Mieum Industrial Complex, were booked for violating safety measures required by the Industrial Safety and Health Act and will be referred to the prosecution. In addition, a total of 22 fines amounting to 36 million won were imposed on 14 companies, including those that violated standards for installing rest facilities.
The Busan Northern Branch Office expects that these measures will raise safety management awareness among manufacturing companies in Gangseo-gu and encourage improvements in hazardous and risky factors through self-inspections, ultimately contributing to the overall prevention of industrial accidents in the region.
