Cheorwon County Selected as Excellent Institution in 2025 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill
Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province has been selected as an 'excellent' institution for the third consecutive year, following 2023, by receiving an excellent rating in the '2025 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill' evaluation organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill is a government-wide disaster preparedness exercise conducted in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's master plan. Since 2005, central government agencies, local governments, and public institutions have participated in this exercise.
On May 20, at Amogreentech in the Dongsong Industrial Complex in Dongsong-eup, Cheorwon County, Cheorwon Fire Station, Cheorwon Police Station, Korea Electric Power Corporation Cheorwon Branch, KT Cheorwon Branch, the 3rd Division, Cheorwon County Volunteer Center, Cheorwon County Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, Cheorwon County Volunteer Fire Brigade, as well as other disaster cooperation agencies and private companies and organizations, participated in a scenario-based discussion and on-site integrated training. The exercise assumed a hazardous chemical spill caused by an earthquake and was conducted based on a realistic situation.
The county received high scores across the overall evaluation indicators, which consisted of 17 evaluation criteria and 4 additional point criteria, including training planning, execution, and feedback.

Lee Hyunjong, Governor of Cheorwon County, stated, "Through this drill, we were able to reassess our duties and roles as a disaster management authority responsible for disaster response. It also provided a valuable opportunity to identify shortcomings and areas for improvement during the training process, allowing us to supplement and further develop our capabilities."
