Kim Doyeon of Korea University of Technology and Education Wins Undergraduate Poster Presentation Award at Korean Vacuum Society Conference
Recognized for Academic Achievement
with Research on SnO2 Nanorod-Based Gas Sensors
Kim Doyeon, a student from the Department of Energy, Advanced Materials, and Chemical Engineering at Korea University of Technology and Education, received the 'Undergraduate Poster Presentation Award' at the Summer Conference of the Korean Vacuum Society.
Her research on acetone gas sensors based on nanomaterials was highly praised, as experimental work from her undergraduate coursework led to tangible research achievements.
The university announced on the 10th that Kim Doyeon from the Department of Energy, Advanced Materials, and Chemical Engineering received the Undergraduate Poster Presentation Award at the 69th Summer Conference of the Korean Vacuum Society, which was held from August 20 to 23 at Phoenix Island in Jeju.
Kim presented her work under the theme, "Study on the Detection Characteristics of Acetone Gas Sensors Based on SnO2 Nanorods Deposited with Mn2O3 Catalyst."
The research was recognized for demonstrating the potential to realize high-sensitivity and high-selectivity sensors by analyzing electron transport and oxygen adsorption characteristics.
This achievement was organized under the guidance of Professor Shim Youngseok, based on experimental data from the "Sensor Devices and Laboratory" major course offered in the first semester of the 2025 academic year.
Kim Doyeon stated, "I am delighted that the experiments conducted in class have led to research results," and added, "I will continue to pursue my dream of becoming a researcher."
