Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Emergency Medical Services Department Conducts CPR and Airway Obstruction Training for Nam-gu Families
The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo), led by Department Head Park Youngsoo, conducted CPR and airway obstruction treatment training in collaboration with the Nam-gu Volunteer Center on August 24 at the multipurpose hall of the Nam-gu District Office Annex in Busan. Thirty local residents from family units in Nam-gu participated in the training.
The training was organized to enhance the community's emergency response capabilities and to disseminate practical first aid skills that can be used at home. In particular, by participating and training as families, attendees developed the ability to protect one another in emergency situations.
The theoretical lecture was delivered by Professor Park Youngsoo, while the practical training was led by Professor Park Yujin and six students from the Emergency Medical Services student club. Participants were divided into groups of five and practiced chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and airway obstruction treatment using mannequins.
One participant shared, "Learning together with my family has given me the confidence that I can save a life in a real situation," and added, "Actually practicing the procedures was a valuable experience that helped me internalize emergency care skills."
Professor Park Yujin stated, "CPR and airway obstruction treatment are essential first aid skills that everyone should learn," and emphasized, "A major achievement of this training is that families now feel empowered to respond without fear in critical situations." She added, "We will continue to expand various emergency care training programs in cooperation with the local community."
