[Click e-Stock] "Unisem to Strengthen Competitiveness Through R&D Investment"
On August 21, Yuanta Securities expressed expectations that Unisem would strengthen its competitiveness through investments in research and development (R&D).
Kwon Myungjun, a researcher at Yuanta Securities, stated, "We expect the ultra-low temperature chiller market to expand," adding, "The need for ultra-low temperature chillers is increasing to ensure stable yields in the EUV lithography process for DRAM and foundry, as well as in the 3D NAND etching process for NAND."
He further noted, "Unisem is currently supplying ultra-low temperature chillers to TEL, which manufactures equipment for ultra-low temperature etching."
Additionally, he emphasized, "CO2 chillers are also expected to draw attention," explaining, "The United States and the EU are seeking to reduce the use of chillers with high global warming potential (GWP)." He introduced, "Unisem has succeeded in developing CO2 chillers for semiconductor processes and is preparing for demo deliveries to global foundry companies."

Kwon analyzed, "As environmental regulations are strengthened overseas, demand for plasma and heat-type scrubbers is spreading," and added, "There is a high possibility that newly built fabs by client companies will adopt these new types of scrubbers."
